Reviewers Needed for NFPA Robotics Challenge Scholarship Applications

Published On February 16, 2017 | By Katrina Schwarz | Education, Headlines, Workforce Development

We are still looking for reviewers to help evaluate the NFPA Robotics Challenge Scholarship applications. The streamlined review process will be done online, and we are expecting volunteers will spend about 10 hours total on reviewing. The process will take place during May and June 2017 and will include the initial application screening, additional screening of three or four finalists, and the final decision. Anyone working in the fluid power industry is welcome to volunteer.

The $4o,000 merit-based NFPA Robotics Challenge Scholarship was launched at the beginning of the 2016-17 school year and will be awarded to one high school senior who participated on a 2017 FIRST® Robotics Competition team to study engineering at any accredited technical school or university in the United States. The scholarship is part of a new strategic alliance between NFPA and FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) to enhance efforts to get students aware of and interested in fluid power and engineering while getting NFPA membership more involved in the process.

If you would like to find out more about becoming a scholarship application reviewer or more about the strategic alliance between NFPA and FIRST, contact Lynn Beyer at lbeyer@nfpa.com or (414) 778-3364.
